The Plano Piranhas is a recreational swim team of the City of Plano Parks and Recreation Department and is affiliated with the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (www.taaf.com). The team will practice five days a week during the months of June and July.
The Piranhas has grown from 140 swimmers in 2009 to 290 swimmers from ages 4 to 17 in 2010. Many swimmers have improved their swimming ability.
Our team objectives are:
- To present every swimmer with a “taste” of competitive swimming.
- To teach, reiterate and instill excellent swimming technique for all swimmers.
- To encourage proper sportsmanship and teamwork.
- To give every swimmer incentives to improve their swimming skills.
Team Apparel
The only required equipment is a one-piece swimsuit. Optional equipment includes goggles, team shirt and cap. The Piranhas will sell team shirts and caps at the front desk. Purchase of any team apparel is completely optional.
Swimming Meets
This summer, the Piranhas will be participating at swim meets in June and July. The meets will be held either on Friday nights or on Saturdays. We will compete with other cities in the North Texas area. The swim meets are optional for swimmers, though we encourage everyone to attend at least one. Swimmers will be able to select some of the events he/she will swim. We encourage all swimmers to try different events throughout the season. Our season will conclude with the Regional and State Competition in July.
